Oct 10-12, 2025

BadAss Sister Friends!

Uncrowded Beautiful Rides!

Fun! Fun! Fun!

BONUS: Optional Training Oct 9 with Shal Wilson!

What is it?  A low key “Rendezvous” or “meet up” for women riders. Yes, you can bring a respectful guy, but this is all about women connecting with women! There are no fees to attend this meetup, but we will ask for donations to support SheADV: Women Exploring on Two Wheels, Connecting Educating, Empowering women adventure riders.

Gunnison? Gunnison, Colorado is a high mountain town (7710 elevation) in the heart of some of the most varied and glorious motorcycle riding.  With Hartman Rocks OHV, Taylor Park, Crested Butte, Ohio Pass, Kebler Pass, Marshall Pass and Powderhorn riders can enjoy single track, dual sport, ADV, and road riding.  There is something for everyone!

When? October 10-12 is the tail end of camping season and a bit past the height of fall color peeping.  Which means most of the tourists will be gone!  In 2024, Shal Wilson and I found plenty of beautiful fall colors and scenery, without the pressure of crowds.  October temperatures typically range from 29-60.  Our riding days kicked off around 9:30-10 and we returned to camp around 4 or 5. Layered clothing is key.

Camping & lodging Options? We will be based out of Gunnison KOA Campground.  Group camp is NOT available, so everyone needs to make their own camping/lodging arrangements.  Gunnison KOA Journey has tent, cabin, RV camp options, hot showers, laundry, and a fun petting zoo.  Hartman Rocks Ohv is a few miles down the road and offers primitive camping options. Various hotel accommodations are available in Gunnison.

Who’s cooking? Feel free to cook for yourself or gather a group of besties to enjoy the restaurants in town.  Saturday night, we’ll pick a restaurant and invite the whole group to meet up. (Last year Shal and I thoroughly enjoyed pizza and beverages at “Pie-Zans.)

What about motorcycles? Unlicensed motorcycles can be ridden in Hartman Recreation Area. Otherwise, motorcycles should be licensed.  ALL MOTORCYCLES RIDING OHV TRAILS MUST HAVE COLORADO OHV STICKER

Fundraiser? We’re all about supporting women who ride.  One of the best ways to accomplish this is through SheADV. This volunteer driven community of women ADV riders is working hard to complete 401c3 certification, website updates, and expansion of services.  SheADV is an invaluable resource for women to connect, learn, support each other, and be the forces of nature only women can be!  Donations, AKA Love Offerings, will be available via cash, electronically and you’ll have the opportunity to purchase SheADV Supporter Packages!

What it is not? These are NOT professionally guided rides.  We encourage riders to share their rides with other women.  We will have a method for riders to list the ride they intend to do and the number of people who can join.

We will have local maps showing surrounding area dirt roads.  We will have some GPX files available.  Pat Jacques has been riding in the Gunnison area for many years.  It’s one of her favorites.  She will be available to offer suggestions and ideas.  Pat will be riding her Husqvarna 701E and intends to ride easy, ADV routes like Ohio Pass & Kebler Pass, Powderhorn Wilderness along the Gunnison River, and intermediate ADV routes like Cumberland Pass.

Funny story, while riding Cumberland Pass with Shal, I pulled over to check in with Shal.  Unbeknownst to me, there was a massive MOOSE in the wetland next to us!  Yes, we took pictures!  It goes to show, I was busy checking my mirrors and GPS and almost missed this remarkable experience!

This is all about women connecting with women.  Experienced riders familiar with the area are encouraged to include others in their rides.  There are multiple easier options for newer riders unfamiliar with the area.  No matter what, it will be insane fun!

Is Training Available?  Yes, group training will be offered Thursday Oct 9  by  SheADV’s lead trainer, Shal Willson.  Your investment is $185.  This buys you 4 hours of world class training, stellar outride, and loads of fun!  Please contact Shal via email shalmariewilson@gmail.com or phone 206.351.7390. If additional training options become available, we’ll keep you posted.

What’s the weather like?  Typical Oct temperatures range from a low of 29F to a high of 60F.  Rain is infrequent. Shal and I both wore Gore Tex riding kits, layers (which we removed as it warmed up,) neck gators, and two pairs of gloves (heavy and lightweight.)
